New Home Star Donates $10,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Through 5K Race

By Star Report 1 min read

Chicago, IL — On October 26 and 27, 2024, New Home Star hosted its fifth annual National GEM Run, a 5K initiative to promote wellness and observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout October, New Home Star employees, friends, family, and builder partners began a four-week GEM Run training program. With every mile logged, New Home Star gave a $3 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Through the collective efforts, nearly 3,100 miles were tallied, and $10,000 was donated – a new record for the firm.

“The annual GEM run embodies our company’s camaraderie on a national scale,” says New Home Star Senior Vice President Keith McKinney. “Witnessing our team’s commitment shows the corporate-wide passion for giving back at New Home Star.”

This yearly initiative was created through New Home Star’s Giving Every Moment (GEM) project, a company-wide volunteer and service program implemented to carry out one of the organization’s core values of giving in meaningful ways. Throughout the challenge, participants logged miles and posted updates on New Home Connect™, the organization’s home builder software.

“The foundation of giving inspires us to serve our community,” says Marketing Manager Erin Henderson. “Every step we take supports those battling breast cancer and brings us closer together as a team.”
