6 Things To Do ...

6 Things To Do Before Attending the International Builders' Show

By Star Report 2 min read

Your flight is booked and your bags are (almost) packed...now what? The long-awaited 2016 International Builders' Show is almost here! Running from January 19-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, this global event brings together 55,000 guests from over 100 countries for a convention filled with innovative products by "the industry's most important global manufacturers and suppliers." Here are seven great tips to keep in mind while finishing that last minute prep for your Vegas trip...

1. Research exhibits ahead of time
From the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show to state-of-the-art displays from distributors and manufacturers from across the globe, IBS has plenty to see. It can be hard to avoid the feeling of "where do I start?" when it comes to this large of an event but can tamed by some quick notes or brief research. You may also want to check out the various networking opportunities and events that require additional tickets. Do your homework. Pinpoint booths or exhibits that interested you. Schedule consultations with companies that interest you ahead of time. Make a game plan!

2. Stay healthy by bringing vitamins and plenty of water…
This tip might seem small but it's one of the most important! Fast-paced, crowded events typically have one thing in common: they make people sick. Combat that inevitable cold virus or fatigue by staying healthy days before the convention and drinking plenty of water during your time there!

3. ...and comfy shoes!
While you'll want to look professional, keep in mind that you'll be doing lots of walking. Plan smart and break in those new dress shoes beforehand or leave those painful heels at home.

4. Arrive early for the opening ceremony
This year's opening ceremony will feature late night TV host Jay Leno and a performance from high-energy drumming group, Rhythm Extreme. All registered attendees are invited (free of charge) but seating is first-come, first-serve. The opening ceremony will begin at 8am on Tuesday, January 19 with doors opening for guests at 7am.

5. Download the mobile app
Get "in-the-know" with IBS's free app for your phone! Users can receive live updates, alerts and view a floor plan map during the show! The app is available through iTunes and the Google Play Store.

6. Grab tickets for the closing concert

If you're interested in joining in on the convention's closing festivities, grab tickets to the IBS Spike Concert presented by GEICO and featuring Daryl Hall & John Oates. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online through your registration profile or on-site beginning January 17. The celebration will take place on Thursday, January 21 at 5pm at the Paradise Event Center in the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
