10 Trends From IBS That You Need to Know About

When you first enter the doors of the International Builders' Show, you're entering a small world. Endless strips of booths and exhibits showcase home-building products and services from all across the globe. From state-of-the-art technology platforms designed specifically for builders to the latest kitchen appliances, IBS is not only the largest convention of its kind but offers a preview of trends set to hit the market in the coming year. Here are 10 highlights from IBS 2016, held in Las Vegas from January 19-21:

1. Nutone-Broan
Nutone-Broan's innovative technologies are designed to make homes operate easily. As a company that brands itself as "intriguing, forward-thinking, and just a little edgy," their products offer state-of-the-art systems that are energy-efficient and reliable. This year's booth highlighted products such as the unique Smart Home Series Home Automation Technology, which allows buyers to have their home's security, sustainability, lighting, and garage door controlled by one user-friendly system. They also introduced the Sensaire fan which senses humidity in the air.

2. GE Appliances 
Guests got a sneak peek at two of GE's most exciting appliances, the Keurig refrigerator, and the Monogram pizza oven. Homeowners can achieve their dream kitchen with two installations that make cooking and coffee-brewing incredibly efficient. The unique pizza oven brings woodfire-style pizza to your dining table in a quick 30 minutes, while the Keurig fridge has a built-in coffee machine and hot water dispenser, making your morning coffee or tea routine quicker and easier.
 
 
3. Integrity From Marvin
This windows and doors powerhouse company built a life-size display of their state-of-the-art, large-scale fiberglass for the International Builders' Show. Along with the launch of their 2016 Contemporary Studio Collection, Integrity From Marvin also introduced a new color palette for painted finishes and an innovative multi-slide door (50-feet wide and 10-feet tall)! 

4. Hanley Wood
According to Hanley Wood, a commercial construction service that is driven by three pillars (metrostudy, media, and marketing), 71% of Millenials say it's important to customize their home. Their exhibit displayed services that help builders gain important industry insight that can drive traffic and increase business! 

5. Sherwin-Williams
Picking the right color for your walls makes your home unique. Sherwin-Williams displayed information on their ColorSnap application, available through the App Store and Google Play. This virtual platform allows users to find matching hues and explore designs and colors. It also includes a virtual room design feature that allows you to visualize colors on your wall.
 
6. BDX
This year's convention showcased the company's up-and-coming Digital Asset Management tool, geared specifically towards builders in an effort to assist with organizing and filing digital media between clients, companies, and contractors. 

7. Daltile
Daltile's industry-leading ceramic, glass and porcelain products gave insight into trends of the new year. Tiling trends such as the "wood-look", "smooth cement-look" and "brick-look" made the company's "2016 Tile Trends Forecast" ranking. The biggest trend alert, however, is large format wall tile. 

8. Wells Fargo
At IBS, guests passing by the big red carriage were able to learn about financial and mortgage services (as well as play an interactive game to win a plush version of the Wells Fargo mascot, Nellie the pony). The booth also highlighted Well Fargo's new extended rate lock.
 

9. DocuSign
Used by the top ten home builders across the nation, DocuSign offers virtual storage for organizing and sharing data. Not only is this a sustainable option for paperwork but the management platform also ensures security in sending and signing digital documents. 

10. Houzz
With 35 million users in 2015, Houzz is expected to grow even more in the new year. The online platform dedicated to remodeling and design is the only of its kind and seeks to bring "homeowners and home professionals together in a uniquely visual community." During the week of the IBS convention only, Houzz is offering $1,000 in free advertising.
